Four kinds of job, on old houses and new ones.

No. 01

Loft conversions

A loft is the job where the roof and the joinery meet. We do both, so there are not two firms taking turns on your house and blaming each other when something does not line up.

Floor joists, dormers, roof alterations, stud walls, the staircase and second fix. We work alongside your architect, and alongside building control where the job needs signing off.

Roofing

A roof is carpentry before it is tiles. We cut and pitch roofs by hand, set trusses, deck flat roofs and frame the openings for rooflights and lanterns, on new houses and on old ones being opened up.

We also take on repairs to existing roofs, and arrange the scaffold when the job needs one.

Carpentry and joinery

First and second fix, fitted wardrobes, alcove storage, floors, and skirting and architrave run to match what is already in the house. Original Victorian and Edwardian woodwork gets repaired where it can be, because the replacement never quite matches.

Staircases and doors

Staircases built new and fitted, straight or winding, with newels and balustrades to suit the house. On an old stair, a tread or a balustrade that has gone gets repaired rather than the whole thing replaced. Doors hung, eased and repaired.
